About this place
Kitakami City Park Tenshochi is a city park in Kitakami, Iwate Prefecture. The park lies along the Kitakami River and is known as a famous cherry blossom spot. The cherry trees were planted in a planting project carried out in 1920 (Taisho 9), and today the grounds of about 29,300 square metres hold about 10,000 cherry trees and 100,000 azalea plants.
