About this place
The Morioka Sansa Odori is a festival held every year from August 1 to 4 in Morioka, Iwate Prefecture. It is one of the earliest summer festivals in the Tohoku region, held in early August. It was formerly held for three days, but in recent years it has been held for four days because of the increase in participating groups. In the past few years, with the four-day schedule, the "Owa Odori," in which most of the participating groups set out at once, is held on the fourth day. The festival then ends with an open-participation circle dance by everyone.
