Overview
A sand drawing in the shape of a Kanei-tsuho coin. Seeing it is said to keep you from want of money.
About this place
Zenigata Sunae is a giant sand painting imitating a Kanei Tsuho coin, made in the Edo period on Ariake Beach in Kannonji, Kagawa Prefecture. Its circumference is 345 metres. The actual painting is an ellipse 122 metres long (east-west) and 90 metres wide (north-south), but from the observation deck at the summit of Kotohiki Park it looks like a perfect circle. Viewing is free, but the inside of the sand painting is a no-entry zone. It is lit up at night (from sunset to 10 p.m.).
