About this place

Hirome Market is a collective food-stall village with more than 50 shops, at the corner where Obiyamachi 2-chome and Ohashi-dori cross in Kochi. It is managed by Hirome Company Ltd. and operated jointly with the tenants' association. The idea came from the then chairman of the Obiyamachi 2-chome Shopping Street Promotion Association, who put forward a 'food theme park concept' as a way to improve customer numbers on the shopping street amid the economic downturn.
