About this place
Sendai Tanabata, or the Sendai Tanabata Festival, is an annual event and festival held in Sendai, Miyagi Prefecture, in connection with Tanabata, one of the Five Seasonal Festivals. Together with the Aomori Nebuta Festival in Aomori, Aomori Prefecture, and the Akita Kanto Festival in Akita, Akita Prefecture, it is counted among the Three Great Festivals of Tohoku. It is held for three days from August 6 to 8 each year, with August 7, the July 7 date shifted by a month, as its middle day.
