About this place
Meganebashi ("spectacle bridge") is a type of bridge. Originally the term referred to a stone double-arch bridge with two connected arches. The name is said to come from the way the double-arch bridge and its reflection on the water together look like a pair of spectacles. In a broader sense, the term is used for stone arch bridges in general, including single-arch bridges and bridges with three or more arches. Brick bridges are sometimes also called meganebashi, not only stone ones. The term is also used as the name or alternative name of individual bridges.
