About this place
The Himeyuri Tower is a memorial monument standing at the site of the cave where the Third Surgical Ward of the Okinawa Army Hospital was located when student corps were mobilised at the end of the Battle of Okinawa. It is in Itoman, Okinawa Prefecture. It was unveiled on April 7, 1946. The monument's name comes from the Himeyuri Student Corps, who served as a student corps in the Third Surgical Ward cave at the end of the Second World War.
