About this place
Mifuneyama Rakuen is a pond-strolling garden in Takeo, Saga Prefecture, famous for azaleas and autumn leaves. Its address is 4100 Takeo, Takeomachi, Takeo. On February 22, 2010 (Heisei 22), the whole garden was registered as a National Registered Monument (related to places of scenic beauty) as the 'Garden of the Former Villa of the Nabeshima Family, Lords of Takeo (Mifuneyama Rakuen)'. It is on the south-western foot of Mount Mifune (elevation 210 metres), the symbol of Takeo. Mount Mifune was named because Empress Jingu moored her 'august ship' there on her return from the conquest of Silla.
