About this place
Nasu Kogen refers to the area at the southern foot of Mount Nasu in northern Tochigi Prefecture, where gentle slopes spread from the area at an elevation of over a thousand metres on Mount Nasu down to around 300 m, where the Tohoku Main Line and National Route 4 pass. Across the Naka River, Nasuno-ga-hara and the north-western side of Nasu Kogen connect to Kashi Kogen in Fukushima Prefecture. Nasu Kogen has long been a tourist area known for the Nasu Onsen resort villages, and is also famous for the Nasu Imperial Villa, opened in 1926 (Taisho 15).
