About this place
Nishizawa Keikoku and Higashizawa Keikoku are gorges at the source of the Fuefuki River, further upstream of Lake Hirose (Hirose Dam). Located in Yamanashi city in northern Yamanashi Prefecture, they form part of Chichibu-Tama-Kai National Park. The two gorges extend to the north-west of Lake Hirose, with views of Mount Kurogane to the south, Mount Kokushi to the west, Kita-Okusenjo and Okusenjo, and Mount Kobushi and Mount Keikan to the north. The ridge leading to the summit of Mount Nishinameyama (elevation 2,086 m) divides at its lowest foot into Higashizawa Gorge and Nishizawa Gorge.
