About this place
Higaki Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. is a shipbuilding company with its head office in Imabari, Ehime Prefecture. It has built cargo ships, chemical tankers, LNG carriers, ethylene carriers, cement carriers, LPG carriers and more. Like Imabari Shipbuilding, it has its roots in the Higaki Shipyard established in 1901 by Higaki Tameji. The founder, Higaki Hisao, took over Tameji's Higaki Shipyard together with his elder brother Shigeichi after the war and built wooden ships, but in 1951 they split and became independent, and Hisao founded the Higaki Hisao Shipyard.
