About this place
Marumoto Shuzo (English company name: MARUMOTO Sake BREWERY CO.,LTD.) is a sake brewery founded in 1867 (Keio 3), with its head office in Kamogata, Asakuchi, Okayama Prefecture. 1831 (Tenpo 2) - Marumoto Kanomatsu (the first head) is born. 1857 (Ansei 4) - Takes part in managing a sake-brewing business in Hieda, Kojima. 1867 (Keio 3) - Founds the sake-brewing business. The original shop name was Shimizuya (said to be named after the fine spring water).
