About this place
Oishi Kogen is a highland in the Nagamine mountain range running east–west through northern Wakayama Prefecture, with Mt. Oishigamine (elevation 870.0 m) as its main peak. Oishi Kogen, a highland forming a corner of the Nagamine mountain range that extends from Mt. Koya toward Kainan in northern Wakayama Prefecture, straddles Nakata in Kimino, Kaiso District, and Oishi in Aridagawa, Arida District, and the flat surface of an uplifted peneplain continues around Mt. Oishigamine (elevation 870 m). The whole summit area is a grassland of about 13 ha covered with Japanese pampas grass (susuki).
