Chusonji
The Konjikido is a National Treasure, gilded inside and out. The bodies of four generations of the Northern Fujiwara still lie there. Late Heian Mutsu produced gold, and that wealth built a cultural world apart from the capital.

Iwate Industrial Research Institute
A public testing and research institution of the prefecture. It supports the casting of Nanbu ironware and metalworking in the Kitakami River basin.

Iwate Museum of Art
Built around three artists from Iwate: the avant-gardist Yorozu Tetsugoro, the urban painter Shunsuke Matsumoto, and the marble sculptor Yasutake Funakoshi.
