Japan’s Food Exports Reach 1.7005 Trillion Yen | Record High for the 13th Consecutive Year

According to the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, Japan’s exports of agricultural, forestry, fishery and food products in 2025 reached 1.7005 trillion yen, up 12.8% from the previous year, marking a record high for the 13th consecutive year. Seafood grew by 17.2%, and the top export destinations were the United States, Hong Kong and Taiwan.

In the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries’ 2025 survey, the number of Japanese restaurants overseas was 181,000. That is a decrease of about 6,000 from the previous survey. However, the regions that declined and the regions that grew were clearly divided.
