There are countless companies in the world. Excellent products, excellent technologies, excellent services. All of them have made life more convenient.

Within that world, we who operate Value Village have continued to hold on to one question: “What is true richness?”

Today, please let us talk about the reason we exist, which lies beyond that question. It is a slightly long, but important, story.

What is Value Village here for in the first place?

We do not exist only to sell products. We do not believe that creating facilities, or even one day creating a town, is the final purpose. What we truly want to nurture is “a culture in which people live better.” Health, beauty, food, and learning are all only methods for nurturing that culture. The destination is always the same: to nurture valuable lives, one by one.

What do you think “true richness” means?

Becoming more convenient. Living longer. Succeeding. Are those alone enough to make people happy? We do not think so. We believe true richness means being healthy. Laughing together with the people you care about. Living with peace of mind. Having hope for the future. And walking through life in your own way. It cannot be measured in numbers, yet it certainly fills the heart. We want to stay close to that richness.

Why do you not make selling products your purpose?

Because products are a means for shaping daily life, not the purpose itself. The main character is always your everyday life and the state of your heart. That is why we value delivering what is truly needed, in just the right amount, more than selling in large quantities. Something you can continue without strain. Something not forced on you. Something you choose for yourself. We want to keep looking at the life beyond the product. That is why selling is not our purpose.

What does the name “Value Village” mean?

This name carries two meanings. “Value” means the values people cherish. “Village” is a community where people can gather with peace of mind, support one another, and nurture the future. What we want to create is not buildings, but values. What we want to leave behind is not a company, but culture. And we believe that, once that culture has grown, connections like a town will naturally emerge. The name itself quietly tells the story of our wish.

What do you want to nurture from here?

What we want to nurture is not something born in a single day. Trust between people. Mutual support. Learning. Challenge. Gratitude. The accumulation of such everyday moments eventually becomes culture. Even as times change, products change, and technologies change, this feeling is something we do not want to change.
